Green Sonnet

Green is everywhere:
Almost everything is green.
Of itself, it shares
At all points and in between

It is cool but it can shine
It also can be muted.
Daily I on it dine
Modest, its ego horn is not tooted.

It is cordial, prominent and, yet, forgotten
As we all wonder at pink and blue
And we show awe at white cotton
While abundant green’s mere being is its clue.

If you have the blues, eat greens
They go so nicely with rice and beans.
